Kate Mara is looking to follow her success on Netflix’s House of Cards by boarding Alcon’s Transcendence, starring Johnny Depp.

Paul Bettany and Rebecca Hall also star with Wally Pfister making his directorial debut. Pic will be financed and produced by Alcon Entertainment’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove. Warner Bros. will distribute.

Written by Jack Paglen, the screenplay was developed by Annie Marter and Straight Up Films, whose principals include Marisa Polvino, Kate Cohen and Regency Boies. Polvino, Marter and Cohen will produce along with David Valdes (Book of Eli), Johnson and Kosove. Boies will co-produce. Plot details are being kept under wraps. Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder are executive producers.

Kate Mara’s sister Rooney Mara was considered for the role that ended up going to Hall.

She is repped by UTA.

Content consisting of downloadable software may not be reverse-engineered unless specifically authorized by the owner of the software's patent and or copyright. Subject to the provisions of this Agreement, you may post on the Web Service any content owned by you (such as your original statements), content for which you have received express permission from the owner, and content in the public domain. You assume all right and responsibility for determining whether any content is in the public domain. You hereby grant to Straight Up Films, LLC a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, freely transferable right and license to edit, copy, publish, distribute, translate and otherwise use in any medium and for any purpose any content that you place on the Web Service without compensation to you. You represent and warrant that you are authorized to grant all rights set forth in the preceding sentence.

3. Indemnity

3.1 You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Straight Up Films, LLC, its affiliates, officers, directors, owners, agents, clients, content providers, licensors and licensees harmless from any claim, expense or demand, including without limitation reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your breach of this Agreement, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

3.2 Straight Up Films, LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, owners, agents, content providers, licensors and licensees assume no liability for any direct, indirect, special, consequential, punitive and/or incidental damages of any kind whatsoever, including, but not limited to, lost profits or attorneys' fees, in any way due to, resulting from, or arising in connection with your access to, use of, browsing on, downloading of any images, video, materials or audio from the Site, inability to access, or use the Site, or from your reliance on any information provided on the Site. This includes but is not limited to damage to property or viruses that may infect your computer equipment or other related property. Straight Up Films assumes no responsibility or liability for any obscenity, error, libel, slander, profanity, omission, falsehood, pornography, danger or inaccuracy of content.

Because we have no control over such websites, you acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for the availability of such websites and do not endorse and are not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, services, products, or other materials on or available from such websites. At present, Straight Up Films does not collect "cookies" via this Site. We do respect your privacy.

Any information that you input on the Site (e.g. using the contact form or e-mail link feature) may be retained in our database. We do not systematically collect any other personal data.
